Ray’s online and newspaper journalism career has taken him from the Carolinas to South Florida to Baltimore-Washington and Atlanta. He’s a longtime sports writer and editor, and has directed multiple award-winning sections, built new online channels and guided journalists who have won a variety of national awards for reporting, commentary, design and headline writing. He has covered the winningest high school football coach in U.S. history, college football national championship games and Super Bowls. His baseball experience includes American Legion baseball, minor league baseball, AL and NL championship series and World Series. And his favorite coverage has been of junior golf, the PGA Tour and golf’s professional majors. He has also taught journalism classes and developed journalism curriculum.
